The late Mr E Hiscock

The death took place at his home Newbury St, recently of Mr Edwin Hiscock aged 86. A farmer, he chiefly farmed at Ashley, Marnhull. He was regarded as an excellent farmer and once took 1st prize for the best 40 dairy cows in the Bournemouth district. During his early life he served on the Parish Council and did other public work. He took a prominent part in the building of the Primitive Methodist Chapel, Marnhull and the installation of the pipe organ there. For many years he held the position of trustee and treasurer. For more than 40 years his home was one of the most hospitable and many ministers, their wives, lay preachers and others enjoyed this generosity.

The funeral service took place at the High Street Methodist Church on Thursday and was conducted by the Rev S Bates, assisted by the Rev S Backley. Miss Welch was at the organ. Mrs Hiscock was unable to attend. Family mourners were: Mr & Mrs G E Hiscock, son and daughter in law, Rev & Mrs J Walker, Capt & Mrs R M Ramage, Mr & Mrs W J E Shute, sons in law and daughters. Mr P E Hiscock grandson. Miss M Ramage grand daughter, Mr J W Sute brother in law, Mrs E Woodcock and Miss G Martin nieces. Other relatives present were Mr & Mrs R J G Shute, Mr & Mrs S Drake, Mr & Mrs F C H Goodall, Miss H M Hiscock, Miss M Allard, Miss b Allard Mr & Mrs A Allard, Miss E Tucker, Mr H Tucker, Mr g Stagg, Mr 7 Mrs A Bartlett, Mr j Street, Mr W Street, Mr m Street, Mr & Mrs H Martin
